The Prayer and Posture of The Fulfilled
14 For this reason I bow my knees before the Father, 15 from whom every family in heaven and on earth derives its name, 16 that He would grant you, according to the riches of His glory, to be strengthened with power through His Spirit in the inner man, 17 so that Christ may dwell in your hearts through faith; and that you, being rooted and grounded in love, 18 may be able to comprehend with all the saints what is the breadth and length and height and depth, 19 and to know the love of Christ which surpasses knowledge, that you may be filled up to all the fullness of God.
20 Now to Him who is able to do far more abundantly beyond all that we ask or think, according to the power that works within us, 21 to Him be the glory in the church and in Christ Jesus to all generations forever and ever. Amen.
The Church is the carrier and revealer of the mysteries of God in the earth according to Ephesians 3:9,10. As a result every believer has a personal role in spreading, distributing, modeling and administering the truth of God’s purpose in and thru the Church. This kind of purpose may not be fully realized because our perspectives hang in the balance of our past experiences and quite possibly rejects the full revelation of Christ’s love for us. When you experience this love it should make you want to tell someone else about it. When that love fills you up it sparks interest in the person whom you love. With Jesu Christ He knows everything there is to know about us but often times we fail to know everything there is to know about Him. This why Paul prays for the Ephesian Church. The significant impact of the church’s ignorance in the fullness of who Christ is hinders how we represent Him in many instances in the earth. So Paul prays that they would come to know the dimensions of God’s grace towards us.
Think about that just for a moment – The dimensions of God’s Grace. It tells me that out of all the years that I have walked with Christ there are still things that I need to know and things that I have come to know that I truly do not know. A closer walk with Him provides me with an experience of being filled with the fullness of who He is. That is a blessing!!!
But how does this realization come? Paul takes a posture of bowing his knees in prayer. That’s right bowing our hearts to the possibilities of God’s grace is a start in being full of God. Paul classifies some of the attributes of this fullness by praying to be strengthened with ability to perform His will. That strength that comes from God prevails over every opposition and helps us to gain mastery over any situation that we find ourselves in. The might that he talks about is the power to achieve by applying the Lord’s inherent abilities to any problem, challenge or obstacle. Isn’t that amazing that we can have this kind of access to God’s power through His presence. And all this can be initiated through prayer, a humble heart and willingness to walk closer with Him.
I pray for you that you will be intrigued enough to bow your own knees in praying for the fullness of God to dwell in you richly. Not just His power but His knowledge, wisdom and understanding as well. I pray that God’s best is accomplished through you and that you come to know just how valuable you must be if God desires to dwell in you fully.
Grow in Grace!!!
